Becoming a Good Homestay Host
At Good Homestay, we have set up a simple 4-step homestay host registration process to join our network. This process ensures a safe and rewarding experience for everyone.
Step 1: Online Application
We first ask you to complete an Online Application through our website, in order for us to check if your location is suitable for us to make placement.
Once we review your online application, we will send you:
- Registration Form (this is different from the one on our website) that asks you to fill in information such as who lives in your home and preferences for hosting students.
- Homestay Guideline which includes all the detailed information that is necessary to host our student.
After completing this form, we will contact you again to arrange a house visit.
Step 2: Home Visit & Interview
A member of our team will visit you for an interview to discuss your interest in becoming a registered host family and help you to answer any questions or concerns about hosting our students. Please be aware that during this visit, we will take photos of your home and family to create a host profile.
Step 3: Background Checks & Police Vetting
Before confirming any placements, we require reference checks for all adults in the home. This includes anyone aged 18 or over, including those staying regularly.
In New Zealand, we use Police Vetting as reference checks. There will be more information given to you during the registration process to complete police vetting.
Step 4 Complete the Homestay Host Registration Process
Congratulations!
We are delighted for you to join our Good Homestay network.
By reaching this stage, you have successfully finished the homestay host registration process. We will contact matching host families about new students approximately 8 weeks prior to arrival. We will also provide a detailed student profile for your consideration.
This includes information about their gender, nationality, age, dietary requirements, smoker, non-smoker, any health concerns and homestay start and end dates for you to consider if you are happy to confirm the placement.
